 Surgery for Women Woman’s Hospital is dedicated to meeting the unique needs of women who have specialized surgery. Our experience with gynecologic, cosmetic, and general surgery for women far exceeds that of most other hospitals in Louisiana. Today, we offer the latest diagnostic and surgical techniques available, including many laparoscopic procedures all in an effort to continue to treat women well. The entire Surgical Services Unit is staffed with nurses, technicians and nursing assistants who have extensive experience in caring for women with medical and surgical needs, particularly in the area of gynecology. A supporting team comprised of dietitians, social workers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, home care nurses, and providers of pastoral care further addresses the needs of our patients. Our Day Surgery Unit, located at entrance 2, has 27 private rooms, where a caring staff administers to our patients’ needs before and after their outpatient surgical procedure. In addition, our staff provides preliminary care and preparation for inpatient surgical procedures as well as outpatient procedures. After the surgery, outpatients return to Day Surgery and inpatients are sent to the appropriate unit for extended care. For convenience, a parking area is available at entrance 2, from which patients and their families can walk directly into the Day Surgery Unit. Families may relax in our waiting area while their loved one is in surgery. Hospital stays after surgery have become shorter. Now, more than ever, it is important for you to be prepared for surgery and to take an active part in your recovery.
